DrMLKJr Principal's Corner

Asbury Park Middle School Administration

September 2017

Dear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School Family:

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School families.  My name is Mark Gerbino and I will be your new principal.  I have been a member of the APSD since 2001 and I have served as a teacher and administrator over these last 16 years. I am truly honored to take over as principal here at Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School and look forward to building a school that will promote high expectations and success for all.

At this time, I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2017-2018 School Year!  The summer has come and gone and now it is time to get prepared for the upcoming year.  The last few months have brought about many new changes with some familiar faces and some new members of our Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School family.  I am confident that these changes will enhance our school and bring it to a place of prominence where it belongs.  Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School is coming off a successful year but we want to be better. This summer, my administrative team along with the schools’ Instructional Leadership Team have been working hard to ensure that we are moving in a direction that will allow your child to reach their fullest potential and become leaders, educators and entrepreneurs that they are destined to be.

Again, this will be my first year as principal of Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to get to know all of you and engage in the educational process together. The middle school years are critical times of development for preparation for high school students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful.  I am a lifelong educator who brings a firm commitment to students and families as well as a love of learning and problem solving. I look forward to the exciting challenges that are ahead of us. So let’s all work together to build lasting relationships and provide each child with an experience that will promote and enhance their talents and gifts.  We will need this community to help us with creating a Model School for others to follow.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the start of school on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Mark J. Gerbino
